“Drink to me”
Musician
One of the founders of Punk, his little known 1971 debut record "The Modern Lovers" lays the blueprint for countless bands that followed. It's interesting to note that the first song The Sex Pistols recorded was Richman's "Roadrunner". He seems like my favorite type of person; an outcast all of his life...a short hair in the long hair days of the 70's, known for crying on stage and always doing his own thing.
Novelist, Playwright and Poet
One of my favorite writers, Johnson penned "Jesus' Son" which was later made into a fine feature film. I mention his non-fiction book "Seek" in an earlier Sharing it entry.
Novel, Kurt Vonnegut
I picked this up at the airport recently. Written in 1963, it's surprisingly relevant and meaningful. Very funny too.
Movie
This touching film, directed by Kenneth Lonergan and released in 2000, is one of my favorites and one of the most often played in my DVD library.
Movie
Written and directed by legendary choreographer Bob Fosse. It's an amazing film...a loosely autobiographical "musical" about Fosse's excessive life in show business.
Movie
Directed by Danny Boyle. This is a classic psychological horror film. I watched it two nights in a row, then bought the DVD for my collection.
Motion Graphics Master
Mr. Ferro started his career by animating the NBC peacock, then moved on to become one of our foremost film title designers. His designs include the classic titles for Kubrick's "Dr. Strangelove", the revolutionary split-screen montage of the original "Thomas Crown Affair" and many recent films.
Artist
I just traded a 15 inch flat screen monitor for MOMA's 2002 book "Gerhard Richter, forty years of painting", and I definitely got the better end of the deal.
Alternative Fuel Source
My older sister, who lives off the grid (fully reliant on solar power), built her own cob house and drives an old Mercedes diesel powered by vegetable oil turned me on to the biodiesel/alt energy movement.
